This clock is a tribute to that Swiss icon - the St Bernard. The dog stands proudly, centrepiece featuring three other puppies. One is hiding timidly round the corner, the other two are standing on a platform inside the wooden kennel. As the cuckoo calls and the music plays the platform the two puppies are standing on begins to rotate, like they were chasing each other. Another prominent feature is the large waterwheel that also turns as the muisc plays.
One of the most distinctive features of this piece is the Brienz-styled roof that’s carved from a single piece of wood.
Finally, as with all Loetscher chalet Cuckoo clocks, the decorative flowers and geraniums are crafted from sand pebbles found on the banks of Lake Brienz.
