Cuckoo clock with leaping Ibex
This chalet Cuckoo clock pays tribute to the goat’s wild cousin the ibex, who prefers the more vertical, rugged terrain above the snow line. Male ibex are famous for their imposing backward-curling horns. In the scene presented here, we see two male ibex facing each other. Upon hearing the sound of our cuckoo call the ibex leap into the air.
The chalet is very similar to the one found in ‘Leaping Goats’, ( item 496)with a pair of deeply verdant pine trees on either side, and window shutters painted a striking red to match the eaves.
1 day rack-strike movement with a cuckoo call on the half and full hour.
